Blame Free Bloating....

Obesity 'not individuals' fault'

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7047244.stm

Individuals can no longer be held responsible for obesity and government must act to stop Britain "sleepwalking" into a crisis, a report has concluded.

The largest ever UK study into obesity, backed by government and compiled by 250 experts, said excess weight was now the norm in our "obesogenic" society.

So yet another level of personal responsibility is eaten away. If you stuff too many buns into your pie-hole, blame someone else.

I can’t wait for the mounds of fat bastards that try in vain to force their corpulent frames through the doors of the law courts to sue those evil burger and pie manufacturers that made their lives so miserable.

I’ve been known to be a bit over weight on occasion in my own life. It’s not a good place to be, and can negatively effect your life and your health. But it was my own bloody fault! Nobody ever force-fed me a kebab, threatened me with an éclair or used duress to encourage me to have one more slice of pie. It was all my own work.

Perhaps people should keep in mind though, before waddling to the phone to call a lawyer, you only get rights because you have responsibilities. Gradually allow the latter to be nibbled away, and you may wake up one day to realise neither is left in the larder.

A Queer Belief System...

Vatican bars prelate in gay row

The Vatican has confirmed local newspaper reports that a high-ranking Catholic priest has been suspended.
The man, Tommaso Stenico, who works in the department in charge of clergy around the world, appeared on Italian TV earlier this month admitting that he was gay.
The prelate had been suspended pending further investigation, said Vatican spokesman Father Frederico Lombari.
He says he was interviewed "fraudulently" with a hidden camera and now denies his earlier statement.
In a letter published in an Italian online newspaper, Petrus, Stenico writes: "I said I was homosexual in order to unmask those who really are."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7043056.stm for the full story….

I don't know where to begin, this story works on so many levels for me.

In the first few paragraphs of this article, we get to see the Catholic church doing it's bit towards my dream of a religion free society, by playing the good old homophobia card. Goodbye forever to a few more 'believers' every time they flag that old chestnut up.

We also get another of my favourite god-botherer types showing his true colours, the classic Cherry Picker, whose approach is: "I believe in this stuff enough to make a career out of it, but I'll cherry pick which of the clearly defined sins of my faith I actually want to take any notice of, and conveniently ignore the ones that are unacceptable to me."

Finally, our Cherry Picker chooses to deny everything, meaning he was lying when he gave the interview, or he's lying now, either of which fits in with the standard operating procedures of church representatives since time began.

Some handy clarifications for other Catholic Priests confused by these issues:

1 According to your religion, homosexuality is a sin. No amount of creative 'interpretation' can change it. Accept it, or accept you don't really believe in it.

2 If you don't tell anyone, you will probably get away with it, just as a large proportion of priests throughout history have. Though it may be safer to restrict yourself to underage sexual partners. Your bosses are generally less likely to want to announce that particular habit if you get caught.

3 You may punish yourself your whole life for your inner secret, but don't worry, God won't. To do that, he'd have to exist, and you know deep down that he doesn't really don't you?

The Incompetence Zoo...

It’s quite astounding to listen to the ongoing saga of Jean Charles de Menezes murder by the police. And I use the term ‘murder’, purposely, because under any other circumstances, and if those responsible hadn’t already been given a ‘get out of jail free card’, that is what it would be.

Just look at the damning evidence that shows why he deserved to be repeatedly shot in public…… (From BBC News)

Ivor, an undercover officer who held Mr de Menezes as he was shot in the head, told the court how he had earlier seen the Brazilian get off a bus in Brixton town centre - and then very quickly rejoin it.

Mr de Menezes had got off the bus and began walking towards the Brixton Underground Station - but after 20 metres turned back when he saw the station was temporarily closed.

Ivor had been on the same bus watching the target - but did not rejoin it out of fear of compromising the surveillance.

However, he reported Mr de Menezes's movements on his radio, but had not seen the Tube station was closed.

And it could have been an even bigger example of a complete balls up by all concerned……

On the first day of his evidence, Ivor had told the court how he acted to restrain Mr de Menezes in the Tube carriage after seeing armed officers rush onto the platform.

In the confusion, firearms officers dragged Ivor out of the train and levelled guns against his chest and head.

He was dressed almost identically to the suspect and carrying a rucksack.

So, a guy is brutally shot for getting off a bus, then getting back on, and in the midst of this high level surveillance operation, the armed lunatics that are supposed to protect the general public almost shot a fellow officer. Did any of these idiots actually turn up for the meeting that morning to see what the days work entailed?

Of course, it’s all irrelevant. Because who will end up paying the possibly unlimited fine that can be levied as a punishment for this debacle? You the taxpayer of course. If not directly, then in terms of reduced police services that will undoubtedly accompany it.

Keep in mind, that chief monkey in this incompetence zoo, Met Police Chief Sir Ian Blair, is the same person responsible for today backing plans to extend detention without trial from 28 days to 90 days for terror suspects.

Whatever happened to the head of an organisation taking responsibility for its actions? All the while we have a tool of oppression and dictatorship at the helm of the police force, none of us are safe to walk the streets. Let alone change our minds about a bus trip….
